Geology For Non-Geologists
Course Summary
The objective of this course is to introduce physical geology, the study of the earth minerals, rocks, soils and the processes that operate on them through time also identifying the origin of the continents, geological mapping, sedimentary processes and stratigraphic structures which are key to reservoir trapping and accumulation.

- Origin and age of the earth: Geologic Time
- Introduction to different rock types: Igneous, Sedimentary and Metamorphic rocks
- Stratigraphy: Rock structures and deformations
- Plate tectonics: Continental and oceanic crust formation
- Sedimentology
- Hydro geology
- Petroleum Geology
- Economic Geology
- Field techniques: Field mapping
Non-technical staff involved with or supporting the field operations. Technical Engineers involved in the Oil and Gas industry. No geology background is assumed so this course is designed to be accessible to all disciplines.
